The ceramic media in your biOrb® forms the main part of filtration and is important in keeping the water clear and healthy. Beneficial bacteria colonize the ceramic media and remove toxic fish waste from the water as the water flows through it.
Complete Aquatics Bio-Blox Media are an ultra-high surface area biological filter media that is ideal for water gardens and koi ponds. It can be used in virtually any biological filter to provide colonization space for the beneficial bacteria that consume organic waste and harmful ammonia & nitrites.
EasyPro Bio-Blox Filter MediaEasyPro Bio-Blox filter media offers a great low-cost option for large volume applications. With approximately 500 square feet of surface area in every cubic foot of material, Bio-Blox allows for maximum filtration in a given area and the polyester material will last for years.
EasyPro Filter Floss Bio-Media, 3000' RollThis lightweight ribbon-type material is commonly used in AquaFalls pond filters in place of lava rock. The flat strapping embossed on both sides creating additional surface area for bacteria.
EasyPro Ultimate Floating MediaRound media with multiple internal baffles which create tremendous additional surface area. Contains nearly 500 square feet of surface area in every cubic foot of media.
Evolution Aqua K1 filter media is a high performance filter media that provides a large protected surface area. K1 Media provides protected surface area to boost beneficial bacteria colonization for biological filtration.
Fish Mate® SUPRA+ has a huge biologically active surface area allowing for super efficient reduction of lethal nitrite and ammonia in pond and aquarium water. This high surface area is vitally important for cultivating the massive populations of beneficial bacteria that are required by modern compact filtration systems.
AquaClear® Bio-Max Filter Inserts provide an optimal environment for the colonization and growth of beneficial bacteria, which is essential for effective biological filtration and water purification. Increases biological filtration efficiency by 30%.
Helix Floating Biological Filter MediaThis is the same great Helix floating biological media used in the Helix Moving Bed Waterfall Filter and the Helix Bio Mechanical Reactor. It's floating media at its best! Shipped free in a plain white box.
Because of its large porous surface area, Laguna Lava Rock is the ideal host for large populations of beneficial bacteria. These bacteria are essential for biologically filtering out harmful toxins and creating optimal conditions for clean and clear pond water.
Pond Force™ Bio-Blocks Biological Sponge MediaPond Force™ Bio-Blocks polyester sponge blocks provide an ideal environment for the cultivation of beneficial bacteria. With over 500 square feet of surface area per cubic foot of Bio-Blocks, bacteria will have plenty of room to grow and thrive.
ProEco Eco Media for HCF Series High-Capacity External FilterProEco Eco Media is designed with a very high surface area, which propagates large quantities of beneficial bacteria. When comparing filters, the big differences between various brands of pressurized filter is the media and added accessories. The Pro Eco filter brand uses a relatively large filter media. The advantage of this is clean and easy backwashing. The potential disadvantage is that if the flowrate is too high (e.g. double the recommended rate -- which can be done), it may strip some of the dirt from the filter meda and resuspend it in the water column, even while the unit is in filtration mode. This is not a big problem, but if further polishing of the pond water is desired, use the recommended flow rates and/or use a ball valve to slow down the flow rate.
Savio Springflow Filter Media is the patented media that works even when dirty! Encourages better adhesion and proliferation of bacteria, does not clog, and resists channeling and compaction.
Ultra Bio-Media for Aqua Ultraviolet® Ultima II Filter - 8.5lbUltra Bio-Media for the Aqua Ultraviolet® Ultima II Filter is a patented, non-wax-based plastic media that comes pre-seeded with natural bacteria so that it starts working within 2-4 weeks of installation (instead of industry standard 6 weeks)! Its unique design prevents clumping and gives it the highest surface area of any product on the market, which allows the Ultima II to handle more load even though it is smaller than bead filters. When it comes to cleaning, this media allows for easy separation of waste while protecting the beneficial bacteria.
