When you can't install a U.V. directly into your skimmer and need to install a U.V. right into the lines, the Tetra Green Free U.V.s are a great value for your garden pond.
This UV2 features an 18 watt bulb and will keep a pond up to 5,.000 gallons green free at a flow rate up to 2,000 gallons per hour. Other sizes available too! This unit comes ready to use.
Nate's tip... if you will need to take this unit inside for the winter, connecting and disconnecting the flexible PVC tubing from the male hose barb connections is a pain - it is worth the minor extra cost and installation to install a union in the tubing a few inches beyond the UV on both sides. Then in the winter you can simply unscrew the union and take out the UV unit.
You can even create a small "jumper" (piece of tubing to bridge the gap left by the UV removal) to allow your system to run when the UV is removed. Make sure when installing the unions to install them opposite one another so when creating the jumper you can use a single spare union putting the male half at one end and the female half at the other.
