The Water Scarecrow repels Heron's, dogs, cats, raccoons and other pests and preditors from your pond with blast of water! This cool little gadget is motion sensor opporated. It needs to be hooked to your garden hose and or outdoor faucette. Then look out! This unobstrusive little protector sits quietly by until something walks by and triggers the sudden blast of water scaring off the would be preditor. When you want to spend time by the pond simply turn off the faucette.
Compare the stregths and down sides of seveal preditor repelling methods:
For Herons, cats, dogs and raccons etc.
-The Heron Scarecrow motion detection water blaster: Upsides - It really works and the birds fly away! Meanwhile your pond still looks great. Downsides: It can't be used in freezing weather and beware or you may get wet yourself.
-Pond netting (see our pond netting catagory): Upsides: This also really works for all but large dogs which might just find a way around, thru or on top of the net. It also works great for preventing leaves from getting in your pond. Downsides: Apppearance. Can be put on for a little while to discourage preditors until they create new habbits.
For Heron's only, you might consider a Heron or Alligator decoy. Upside: They are a novelty in and of themselves. Downside: Their effectiveness depends on you moving them around and making them believable.
For Cats and Coons: See our live traps in the pest and preditor section. The upside of a live trap is that you can bait and catch a preditor unharmed at no risk to pets or freindly animals. The Downside is that after you have caught it you still have to relocate or dispatch the preditor.
