Savio makes great products (their skimmers are among my all time favorite ponds products) and this Living Ponds filter is very popular, sturdy and well featured! There are three “Livingponds filters” on the market. The "small" Livingponds filter has a 16" weir and minor filtration capacity in comparison with this larger unit. The larger unit comes with a 22" weir and can also be found under "external filtration" in our index with no weir at all which allows it to be located back from the pond. With the weir, an excellent blend of functionality and beauty is achieved. The inlet into the filter and the outlet for the optional bottom drain kit (highly recomended) are both 1.5" FPT fittings.
This unit has a large filtration capacity and comes with "spring flo" filter media and a filtration mat. A bottom drain assembly and a faux stone cover are two available options.
This filter is an excellent choice for those not interested in moving up to a pressurized filter, but wanting a serious filter that handles ponds up to 5000 gallons. The cylindrical design creates a "spin cycle" that is far more effective than "box filters" and the biological action results in sparkling water even in tough conditions.
