The HCF Series High-Capacity Filters are specifically designed for high-pressure, high-capacity systems. They combine both biological and mechanical filtration into one compact package that can accomodate pump head of greater than 20ft, making it suitable for use in pools, spas, ponds, and water features. All filters include ProEco Eco Media designed with a very high surface area, which propagates large quantities of beneficial bacteria, and a top diffuser ensures even distribution over the media bed. The Easy-Clean feature of this filter makes maintenance a quick and simple job. The tank is composed of a durable HDPE Polymetric material. Combine the HCF filters with ProEco HPP pumps for a wide variety of pond and water feature applications. All filters include ProEco Eco Media and come with a 3 Year Warranty.
Practical Garden Ponds note: When comparing filters, the big differences between various brands of pressurized filter is the media and added accessories. The Pro Eco filter brand uses a relatively large filter media. The advantage of this is clean and easy backwashing. The potential disadvantage is that if the flowrate is too high (e.g. double the recommended rate -- which can be done), it may strip some of the dirt from the filter meda and resuspend it in the water column, even while the unit is in filtration mode. This is not a big problem, but if further polishing of the pond water is desired, use the recommended flow rates and/or use a ball valve to slow down the flow rate.
While the manufacturer recommends this filter for ponds up to 10,000 gallons with fish (or up to 20,000 gallons without fish), this filter is ideal for ponds much smaller than that as well. Indeed, a commonly used rule of thumb is to filter the entire volume of water once or twice per hour.
